Smarties!

You will have one more lesson to help complete the task (Monday or Tuesday next week) and this homework. It needs to be completed by your whole group. Work on paper and stick it onto the poster in Monday / Tuesdays lesson (or by arrangement at other times after the lesson).

The task:

"Smarties!

On paper show working to find:

1. The modal colour in your box of Smarties.

List the number of each colour you had and explain how you found the modal colour.

2. The median number of Smarties in a box.

You will need to list the number of red Smarties in increasing order to help explain how you worked out your median.
Also calculate the range of Smarties.
Do exactly the same for the number of orange Smarties in a box. Write about what the median and range is for red and orange.

3. Work out the mean average and range for the number of Smarties in all the boxes.

You will need to list the data and show the steps of your working.
Explain how you worked out your answer."

I expect that some groups will complete all 3 elements of the task, not just 1 of the 3.
